20 January - greetings from isleworth, or, good things come to those who wait Boy wot a crazy few months since our last post! We have been busily writing away putting together a new EP with me and Blah playing all the instruments, rather than using plain old samples. Seeing as its been years since we both played an instrument it has been an intense learning curve, but the wait will be worth it. we are just laying down the last few instruments at the dockside studio of Mr. Wayne (resident audio expert), who will be taking on as many of the production duties as we can force him into. We are also putting a video for one of the tracks 'the Vampire Bride' into production, so expect that to coincide with the release of the EP. In other news we are still waiting on a couple of verses from our guest vocalists on the bootleg of Prince Pauls' 'Psychoanalysis', but it is sounding cool anyway, and will be available from our shows out of the back of a van. And very soon i will be submitting both a typed essay and an audio recording of one of Stan Gooch's works entitled 'Science Fiction as Religion' which Stan has kindly allowed us to broadcast for free. It is an absolutely amazing piece of work that we are proud to publish on our website, and you should all feel extremely honoured. peace danDNA

28 December 2005 - Christmas in Wales. We just got back today from a week recording vocals in the welsh countryside. My vocals have gone all Bryn Terfel now and Blahvatski has gone a bit Charlotte Church, i guess the accent just rubbed off on us. We did manage to get a lot done though and the Guardians mixtape is well on schedule for a release in January/early February. We also got to do a bit of Welsh wildlife watching and saw amongst other things a Greater spotted Woodpecker, a Nuthatch, a Red Kite(i know! a red kite!) and a very rare lesser spotted Stan Gooch. We met up with Stanley for a spot of xmas dinner at a pub - the King Hotel - a few miles from his manor where we had a lovely home-cooked roast courtesy of Sue, the landlady, who even done a good vegetarian lasagne. wishing everyone a happy new year danDNA and Madam Blahvatski
28 November 2005 - thrills, pills, and bellyaches. I performed a couple of tracks with They Live on Saturday night at Kingstons fighting Cocks which was a nice cosy affair. There is something about a live band that gets you going and to be honest I didn't want to get off the stage. Looking forward to more shows with the band in the near future, thanks to everyone who showed up and supported. Myself and dandna are writing new material for The Guardians mixtape which will have an array of tracks so keep your minds and ears open for that, hoping to get it down before the year is out.
I will keep it brief until next time pz mad b
13 November 2005 - Busy doing...nothing? last weekend we visited the Avebury stone circle complex to replenish our dwindling energy supplies. It is a constant source of amazement to me that the 1000 odd stone circles that litter our countryside - some of which are dated at 5000 years old - are seen by most people as nothing more than some stones standing upright in a field. If you have never visited one you have missed an essential part of European history in my opinion, you are left with many more questions after you have been than before you went, which is what they are probably about. We have recieved news from Stan that he has been included in a newly published book entitled 'A secret history of consciousness' by the author Gary Lachman. The title is pretty self explainitory and the piece on Stan is actually favourable towards him which is a good thing. Read a review of the book here. Mr. Lachmans book is available now from your favourite book seller, so go cop it. Madam Blahvatski will be making an appearance this month at the Fighting Cocks Public House in Kingston on Thames with the band They Live who will be performing for your listening pleasure on Saturday 26th November, the show starts at 9pm. Speak soon danDNA
19 0ctober 2005 - Busy, busy, D. Sorry I havnt posted here for some time, the They Live mixtape is taking up an incredible amount of our time at the moment, whether its writing tunes or organising emcees it is non-stop. For anyone whos interested there are still spaces left for spitters of all nationalities to grace tracks, solets hear some dutch or german ish, as well as the UK and US we already got. You'll be pleased to know I am well again now, the wound is healing nicely, and the infection is all gone, so I can safely be approached in the street again and propositioned, if thats what you like, although my sarcasm may stop you from getting past the first question, its still worth a go. cant stop, gotta keep on moving for fear of dying. PZ DNA
03 0ctober 2005 - First glimpse of the new horizon. We have recieved the overdue good news that Stan is going to be gettting two books from his back catalogue republished, one in digital format and the other in the traditional 'cover and pages' format. The first, Cities of Dreams is to be published by Crow Street Press online soon, and the other, The Dream Culture of the Neanderthals is to be published by Inner Traditions in the spring. Ill give the proper details nearer the time or whenever we find out more. Dont forget that the Mayday!Mayday! e.p. featuring the voices of Stan Gooch and Colin Wilson is still available from the sons of TC Lethbridge site. Its a British beat writer's classic that no good mystic should be without. Oh by the way, in case any of you had stopped worrying, I am still in recovery. Pz danDNA
12 September 2005 New Stan gooch open letter to 'Psychic News' added to Stans news page, there are also some photos in Stan's archive to check out. Im still recovering from appendix operation after it became infected, probly from going back to rehearsals too early, but dont tell nurse Betty Lim. The 'They Live' mixtape is under way and should be in the listeners ear by late october/early november, check at www.they-live.co.uk for regular updates. if any emcees want a guest verse on it give us a bell and well see what we can arrange. Also, the Guardians now have a myspace site so if you wanna be our friend, sign up and add us. go to www.myspace.com. Anyways, Im off, pz dna.
31 August 2005 - Kemp festival and new plumbing. The HipHop Kemp festival in Czech Republic(19-21 August) was the most interesting festival ive ever been to.To start with there was not a lot of food and drink stalls (except for cheap alcohol) and the ones there were only served up deep fried pizza base with garlic sauce and grated cheese on it, or chunks of meats in a roll. where was yer tempura vegetables or yer classic 'chip' wagon? noone was exploiting the good weather and selling bottles of water, even though at one point there was at least 600 people queuing to get their tickets in the scorching sun, and no refreshments. and that was the mindset for the whole festival, it was a mass event without the mass manipulation. alright there was the odd nescafe or T-mobile tent (and portable mobile phone mast, many thanks), but the general feel was that organisers were only doing it for people to have a good time, which they did quite well. Skinnyman and forreign Beggars represented the UK with honour, FB even managing to confuse the Europeans with a bit of grime. Inspector Deck was also spot on, but his voice went towards the end of the set. Masta ace was pure entertainment, seeing old emcees still rocking a crowd, thats the future. But on Sunday the heavens opened up and we received the bad news that Non-Phixion were not going to come and headline, because Sabac messed up the schedule or summit, i dunno, the whole night went downhill from then, the Europeans just carried on drinking into the night. Finally had a three hour delay coming back on the aeroplane, when they couldnt start the engines, hmm. oh ye, big up to Chris and Carl from liverpool who we met up with, see ya next year lads. See some of our video highlights here. Then on Thursday night I went into hospital with stomach pains, was diagnosed with appendicitis and had the offending bit of pipework removed by friday night. So i am now in the recovery position for the next few weeks, replaying all the GTA:San Andreas missions over a humble bowl of soup, or just kicking back on Co-Dydramol. so like me, take it easy. dna
14 August 2005 - busy week ahead... Just a quick note: we've added more audio now on the Guardians 'Audio' link and new News headlines in Stan's site. Pz dna
05 August 2005 - Welcome once again to the Guardians website. We have now added the Stan Gooch audio that was promised last month, just click on Stans face above, and follow links to 'Stans audio'. This month Stan discusses the number thirteen and the old moon religion. Oh, and we have also added some audio snippets of our own via our audio button, and more will follow in the coming weeks. We were in the studio putting down some new ideas last weekend, some of which may make their way to the site others to the trash icon. staying locked in the room til the early hours seemed to produce the best results, dunno if that says something about hip-hop or not... dont forget the forum is open for war to commence, through rhyme and discussion over the battlefield of the unknown. Anyway, its friday night and im hungry so.... keep staying up late.pz dna 21 July 2005 - Here it is people, the Guardians have decided to do the kind thing and share some knowledge with the world. The site has taken some time we know, but it is worth the wait. We have a forum you can visit and drop rhymes or wisdom or just pose a question. The Audio section will be up in a couple of weeks, please be patient, i know its probably all you're here for, take some time to read the other pages too, follow links to our Stan Gooch database, or go through our links page, for other items of relevance or general interest. There will also be some monthly recordings from the genius Stan Gooch himself, which should be available in the next few days, keep checking. At the moment we are working on a few more recently written tracks and will be in the studio before the end of the month to put some vocals down for our first release, hitting the shops around autumn time like a mum christmas shopping. On the future tip, we're looking forward to Kemp festival in august, hit the forum if you're going and we'll arrange to meet/avoid each other there. pz dna |
